Meet Alejandra
Hola! My name is Alejandra Garcia-Ponce and I was born in Matamoros, Mexico. I moved to Cleveland, Ohio when I was 5. During Covid I moved to Dallas to be closer to family because of all the uncertainties that were going around, around because of a breakup. My family and I are from Matamoros and Tampico.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences from Cleveland State University and a Masters in Public Health from University of New England. I am currently working in non-profit research.
I created the Latina Social Club DFW because I wanted to build a space where Latinas could truly feel at home—a space where we don’t have to explain our culture, alter our identities, or mispronounce our names just to make them easier for others to say. I longed to be surrounded by women who share my culture and experiences, where we could celebrate our roots unapologetically. This club was born out of the desire to foster community, connection, and pride, offering a place where Latinas in DFW can support and uplift one another while embracing every part of who we are.
I’m incredibly excited about the future of the Latina Social Club DFW and all the possibilities it holds. The thought of the amazing people we have yet to meet and the inspiring collaborations waiting to happen fills me with so much enthusiasm. Our community has already accomplished so much, and I can’t wait to deepen our connection with the vibrant, diverse communities around us. It’s about more than just meeting new faces—it’s about fostering meaningful relationships, supporting one another’s journeys, and creating opportunities to celebrate and uplift Latina culture together. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow our reach, amplifying the voices of Latinas in DFW, and building partnerships that reflect our mission of inclusivity, empowerment, and community. The future feels bright, and I know the best is yet to come.
My religions is Pilates! Let me know if you ever want to go do a class together!
